Pension Transfers
We specialise in the business of pension transfers
and provision of ongoing investment advice with the aim of maximising
risk adjusted returns.
If you are considering the transfer of your pension(s),
it is probably for one or more of the following reasons:
- To achieve better investment performance.
- To consolidate a number of pensions.
- To reduce charges
It is relatively easy to justify the transfer of pensions
if this results in lower charges but unfortunately the pursuit of
improved performance usually comes at a higher price.
Pension Choices
There are many providers of pensions but we have categorised
your main choices below:
Either:
1. Low Cost Stakeholder Pension
Some years ago, the government introduced 'low cost'
stakeholder pensions with a charge cap of 1.0%p.a.
This charge cap was is now 1.50%p.a.
The typical investor in Stakeholder pensions is generally motivated
by low cost and does not require ongoing investment advice and/or
complex retirement options. For this reason investment is usually
in one or more of a limited range of managed investments.
Or:
2. Higher Charging Personal Pensions including
SIPP (Self Invested Personal Pension).
These pensions tend to suit individuals who are willing
to pay higher charges in the persuit of improved investment performance
and/or complex retirement solutions usually requiring ongoing advice.
It is largely due to the cost of advice but also the relative complexity
of these plans that these solutions cost more than stakeholder and
other simple insured personal pensions. Based on our experience,
the annualised cost of these plans is likely to be between 1.50%
and 2.00%p.a.

The Next Step
The most important thing, when considering the
transfer of pensions, is to choose an adviser who has the relevant
expertise and experience in this field and to be satisfied about
his/her impartiality and level of remuneration. If you are satisfied
